I started pilot training in April and got a basic inexpensive headset.
I had to go and get a replacement for it because although I could talk with my instructor, I could not talk with ATC/Norcal etc. I did not like it's short mic which only let it rest on the side of my mouth.
Asked around the flight school and pretty much everyone said Dave Clark was the way to go.
I got this headset and have not looked back. It is comfortable to wear, doesn't bind on my head or ears and the sound through the ears is very clear. The mic sits right in front of my mouth and boy what a difference it makes when talking. No delay or lag from when I start to speak at all. And since Jake is selling the sterio for the same price as the mono, it's a no brainer. I looked at the other major sites for headsets and this site smoked em for price. Speaking as a flegling pilot, I would recommend this headset.
